Download dx9d9.dll and d3d9.dll, then put them in your game folder with the EXE (or locate the DirectX install included with the game and run it) For ATI, the latest hotfix / drivers are recommended For NVIDIA graphics cards, load the Control Panel and set the application profile for the game from “Adaptive” to “Max Performance” (under Power Management) Install the latest video card drivers (NVIDIA, ATI / AMD, Intel, etc)
Run the game in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode This includes if you have a black screen on launch (launch failure), freezing after the intro / introduction opening cinematic video, a choppy / slow / stutter / low rate of frames per second, etc.
These fixes are pretty much the same regardless of the issue.
